unearthed treasures meticulously dug and reworked into bold, earthy jewelry by the brainchild of rework is none other than artisan, toni johnson. since 2006, soulful songstress turned devoted designer continually fed her creative spirit thru melting a harmonious blend of precious metals, raw gems and textiles alike producing an organic fusion of the native wild west meets soulful bohemian wildchild. traveling across the globe and spending time in nature, toni’s native home is literally wherever she travels. no boundaries and no territory uncharted can stop this pioneer as she continually sharpened her technical skills as a seamstress, metalsmith, hand-tooling, as well as furthering her education and passion in gemology. several years later, rework emerges into an eclectic collection with a wild indigenous vibe reminiscent of artifacts having surfaced from long ago, rediscovered, and are now consistently breaking the mold of uniformity and redefining individuality. the soundtrack of mother earth herself plays out in each collection, ranging from the ‘down home’ bluesy notes in the distressed leather medicine bags and pouches to the saturating soulful feel of bold, ethnic stone necklaces and warrior arm cuffs to the simple sweet sounds played thru delicate earring dusters and crystal clusters. rework is a rare jewel in the fashion industry not only because of its stance on preserving our Mother Earth by using recycled, sustainable materials whenever possible but also fueled by toni’s passion to educate the masses on the healing properties and purposes of each stone and crystals used. rework prides itself in providing superior handmade goods designed with the best quality materials and stones unearthed, personable and friendly customer service and satisfaction. already having a firm foundation of a loyal, boheme tribe nation by its side, rework creative is quickly spawning into a global cult following, as it sings to the free-spirited souls of those craving the raw nature rework creative delivers from ‘the gifts Earth makes’ for us. with love, rework creative

As a person who lives at the intersection of multiple marginalized identities, art has helped me contextualize how I navigate this world. Mixed-media collage and sculpture has become the way that I can tangibly arrange these different aspects of my existence into a whole. As my practice has expanded, I’ve arrived at a place where I desire to explore those intersections communally. The themes of my previous work dealt mostly with myself, understanding my body, the clichés surrounding it, and the violence inflicted upon it. I looked to art history to explore how being a fat black woman and being inserted into common narratives brought new context to them. Now I have turned to systems of divination as a medium through which I can not only explore my own perception of self, but the interconnectedness of my experiences with others. I was inspired by my own spiritual journey deconstructing, decolonizing and disconnecting from my Christian heteropatriarchal foundations. My current series of paintings "From Dust to Onyx" uses tarot as an avenue to visually explore the rich and complex layers of Blackness. The series contains 78 paintings created through mixed media collage, layering materials from paper clippings to sand and glitter. These applications are a way of exploring the intersections of Black identity while featuring historical facts, cultural myths, traditions, symbolism, and icons throughout the Black Diaspora. I collect the shards of my own identity as a black/fat/queer woman and piece them into a mosaic of works that present blackness as universal spirit—in contrast to the idea of whiteness and light that formed a wedge between my personal experience of higher consciousness and ancestral connection. Using mixed media collage, I explore the complexities of blackness as a human experience and as a color story wrought with negative connotations. In turn, I re-imagine a timeless world that feels deeply ancient yet intrinsically intertwined in this modern realm, birthed from a a place of nothingness that is also simultaneously everything. A non-binary world where I see myself, reflections of blackness, and darkness, as powerful and eternal. It is important to me that the experience of this work extend beyond gallery walls so viewers are able to re-visit and re-experience the artwork in multiple contexts. This also challenges the accessibility of contemporary art and it’s ability to create conversation not only within white walls, but continuously in personal and intergenerational exchanges of vulnerability. Through tarot cards, viewers can explore the infinite ways this series can be arranged and rearranged, building and changing the interrelationships between each card as a compelling tool for healing, community empowerment, and social justice. Using divination systems as a vehicle makes this work a tool of resistance and transformation not just politically, but at the root of one's spirit.

With each purchase you are standing up for a change. 10% of all sales are donated back into the BedStuy, Brooklyn community through YoungLife. This nonprofit organization is international and faith-based focusing on providing support to youth in New York City, in particular, middle and high school students. YoungLife doesn’t start with a program, it starts with adults who are concerned enough about teens to go to them and care for them. Adult volunteers who step into the world of teens immerse themselves in their culture and in turn build bridges of authentic friendship. Sincere Gaston started from necessity. I began creating items for myself that went along with my fast-paced lifestyle that promoted healthy haircare. Most importantly, these items helped me care for my hair with ease. Sincere Gaston is my way of sharing these lifestyle products to help you embrace what is sincerely you.

He wanted to create art that would uplift and inspire all people in the Black Diaspora and to remind them that they are descendants of great people: Kings, Queens, liberators, warriors, activists, etc. We hope the products offered by BLOK reflects that passion and they are something you would wear or show off proudly and unapologetically. I am an artist living and working in Oakland, CA..I explore the power of ancient symbols and the grounding, restorative nature of ancestral craft with Sacred Knots which is a line of fiber jewelry, wallhangings and instructionals. My wallhanging designs have been featured in set design by interior design platforms such as Lulu & Georgia and my jewelry has been commissioned for ceremonial events, such as weddings. ? My book Sacred Knots: Create, Transform, and Adorn Through the Art of Knotting, published by Roost Books November 3, 2020, details my approach to knot work, offering historical knot information, craft instruction, meditative approaches, tutorials, and project ideas. I have offered knotting workshops for four years, at diverse gatherings such as craft workshop venues, birthdays, and employee events. As an artist and teacher in the craft community, facing frequent theft of my designs over the years by both crafters and corporations, I have written extensively about ethics in crafting, how artists and crafters can develop a community-grounded art practice, and how businesses can build more socially responsible models. My work culminated in Craft & Practice: Meditations on Creativity and Ethics, a booklet and a creative support group. I have also begun to offer consultation services to help businesses align with community grounded practices. I have offered consultation services to various businesses and lectured on creativity ethics at venues such as the Girl Gang Craft Summit. As an extension of my exploration in symbology and the creativity, I have developed visualization as a tool in my creative process. I have led and instructed in guided meditations as a tool for manifestation, lucid dreaming, mental/emotional balance, creativity and relaxation.
