Jakeala is founded by Kay, her grandmother was a midwife, farmer, herbalist and made herbal products for the community. Our mission is to make everyone feel beautiful about their hair and skin. We have curated high quality beauty products that honors their being. We value community, inclusivity and transformative self care. Our products are handcrafted using natural herbs, high quality ingredients, paraben free, phthalate free and never tested on animals. Every ingredient in our product matters to your skin and hair. We ethically source ingredients made in America and from local women around the world. We have been featured in Essence Magazine, Mother Earth Living Magazine, GQ Italia, YourTango, PopSugar, NaturallyCurly and much more. And we won best shampoo bar 2015 from NaturallyCurly. We give back over 10% to women and non profit organizations. We partner with The Voice Of Truth Radio and Chesapeake Regional Jail by hosting an annual conference yearly to provide resources for ex inmates. We also host yearly events for infertility as this matters to the Founder Kay. Kay struggled with infertility and also as a black woman herself lacked resources. Naturally Tribal is a proudly British skincare brand born from personal experience with PURPOSE and IMPACT in its DNA. In 2014, Shalom Lloyd, our founder, was blessed with the birth of her twins. Her boy, Joshua had miserable eczema - scratch ‘till you bleed’ irritation and she couldn’t bear the idea of smothering his sensitive new skin with chemical emollients and steroids. As a qualified pharmacist, Shalom understands the enormous value of medical treatments; however, our skin is a huge exchange organ which absorbs a lot of what we put on it. So, when you think about it, what we put on ourselves, and our families skin, should be just as important as what we eat. She looked to her African heritage for inspiration, recalling recipes containing all natural ingredients, which have been used in Africa for generations. Shalom started to experiment in her kitchen, using high quality Shea Butter as a main base, stumbled across the right formulation and within three days of application, Joshua’s skin cleared! Sourcing the right high quality and premium natural ingredients is the key to our product EFFICACY and the search for quality ingredients led us to the Kingdom of Essan, Niger State, Nigeria from where our high grade Shea Butter ingredient is sourced. T Shanel Beauty is a Philadelphia based business founded by 23 year old freelance model and makeup artist Timea Wood. Her love of makeup, skin care and bath rituals prompted the launch of the line. The handcrafted collection has grown quickly and expanded into home fragrance including candles.

So I decided to create my solution" -Miguel Martinez, Founder of ThatsSmoooth Born in the melting pot that is Harlem, our founder Miguel Martinez spent decades having to settle for shaving products that were not made for his Afro-Latino hair texture or skin type. Stuck with multi-blade cartridge razors and harsh products that damaged and irritated his skin, like so many other men of color Miguel was expected to just "put up" with the market. After years of over-cutting his multi-textured hair and irritating his sensitive skin causing razor bumps he'd had enough. It was clear men of color were stuck: between cheaply made beauty supply/ drug store brands, and prestige/luxury brands - created principally for people who didn't look like him. A community like Harlem and the folks who it breathes life into stay creative, stay bold - and they definitely don't wait for someone else to hold it down. So Miguel got to work. For himself, for his sons and for the community. ThatsSmoooth is a testament to that legacy, and all the other men of color past present and future who own who they are.

Hey y'all! Welcome to The Tee Affect. My name is Tyler Anderson, Founder and Hair Stylist of TTA and it is a pleasure to welcome you into TTAFam. I am 21 years old and a true Capricorn, whoot whoot. I am currently an employed, full-time college student. I am studying Business Administration with a concentration in Management. I am a black woman, a student leader, natural inspo, dancer, believer, lover, and a huge foodie. I come from a Barbadian mother and a Jamaican father. With the background of both beautiful countries, I am well rounded, well respected, well cultured, and most importantly well aware of my beauty in it's most natural state. THE BIRTH OF TTA TheTeeAffect has been a dream of mine since I was in high school. Although I've always did my friends and dollies hair, what sparked my passion for natural hair was the transitioning period from a perm to my natural 4c hair right before high school began. After I chopped my hair off, I immediately grew this love and confidence in who I was and what I represent. I wasn't sure how I could project this love and light to others but then it finally clicked on September 23rd, 2019. The birth of my first born, TTA. I officially started doing natural hair for both men and women as an official business. Of course this was an amazing start but it wasn't enough for me. I began to come up with more ways I can encourage people to choose this lovely natural lifestyle. I started to research the products I use on my skin, hair, and body. The news was so heartbreaking that I had to do something about it. I started to make everything that I used on myself and even my clients. From my hair oils, to my body shimmers. I figured this is something I can share with the world so I invested in that specifically. On February 10th, 2020, the birth of my second born TTA Natural Hair and Body Care Products consisted of Beard Balm, Hair Oil, and Body Shimmer. Now just a few months later, I am proud to say that I've branched out to a shampoo, leave-in conditioner, hair butter/body butter, body oil, and so much more. Hey thanks for checking us out. We formulated our plant-based hair product called 3-in-1 Hair and Scalp: Detangle, Condition + Grow out of necessity to help manage my daughters' hair who both have sensitive eczema prone skin. Most products we had tried were either too greasy, heavy (causing a lot of build up) or irritated their scalp.
