Khonso is named in honor of Khonso Im Heb, the ancient Egyptian brewer to the pharaohs and the gods of the dead (Osiris and Anubis). In ancient Egypt, beer was for everyone: young, old, rich, poor, women, and men. Khonso Im Heb is the first official large-scale brewer of record whose beer was enjoyed by all in the Kingdom. The name - Khonso Brewing - was selected by our great community which has been a part of our journey from that first brew. Khonso is founded by three friends: Kevin Downing, Corby Hannah, and William Teasley. One evening in 2013, Kevin and William were having a dads’ night out drinking imported beer when William shared the idea of launching a brewery and the seeds of Khonso Brewing were planted. The three men, armed with a homebrew kit, some basic equipment, and their passion for beer, began their brewing journey as Brothers That Brew. Twelve years of combined all-grain home brewing experience (nearly 750 gallons brewed), flavor experimentation, and conversations with regional and local brewers helped Khonso Brewing to take root.

Sankofa Beer Company, is a Washington, DC based producer and distributor of premium craft beer, inspired by the founders' connection to West Africa. We are on a mission to expand the conventions of craft beer by creating a space where culture meets craft. SANKOFA (San-Koh-Fa) is a word from the Ashanti/Akan people in Ghana and translates to “Go back and get”. It is visually represented by a mythic bird with its head turned backwards with an egg in its beak, or as a stylized heart. Sankofa is a symbol for the understanding that in order to ensure a strong future you must return to collect and understand your past. This understanding resonates with us and has truly inspired us as we write the story for Sankofa Beer.

Power Bites were created by accident. As a busy father, business owner and chef, Sharif Rasheed wanted to create a soft granola bar that his teething son could enjoy. Sharif aimed for healthy ingredients that would actually taste good. As he was making his first batch, they naturally broke into squares. And his son Malcolm, devoured them in a heartbeat. After eating the leftovers, Sharif realized he was onto something. He started implementing the Power Bites into his former juice business and customers loved them. He knew then that this was the product he wanted to focus on.

With well over 50 plus years of combined corporate experience, David and Pam Griffin decided to do something for themselves. After investigating several small business options they were led to chocolate. Blending their backgrounds in retail and manufacturing, a lot of research and a long history of healthy eating came the birth of Chocolate Therapy. They have pushed the boundaries of taste and texture, combining exceptional ingredients in thoughtful and innovative ways that are both amazingly delicious and uniquely their own. Capitalizing on the well-documented health benefits of dark chocolate and adding therapeutic ingredients they would have a winning combination and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

I specialize and all things sweet when it comes to popcorn. I do dessert flavored popcorn that take you back to your childhood. It's love at first bite! OKO River products are made in New York State from a simple recipe that originated in Guyana, South America. OKO River Sweet Potato Flour Cake Mix is part of a project to empower young agricultural entrepreneurs in Guyana who develop breakthrough agro-processed goods. OKO River Sweet Potato Flour Cake Mix originated as a college project from one of the budding female agro-processors and entrepreneurs with whom we collaborate. We are proud to introduce you to the South American country of Guyana and to OKO River brand products.

The T|W lunch tote was birthed from a real need; a better way to carry lunch. Dressed to impress, Shallon struggled to find something to place his lunch in for the day. After trying a paper bag, a plastic bag and even a velcro neoprene meal bag, he realized none of these really reflected the look he was going for. None of them matched his style. Frustrated, he then went online to find a corporate lunch box. There was nothing similar to what he was looking for at a reasonable price. He then decided it is time we take matters into our own hands. From this, the T|W lunch tote was born. Natives of the West Indies, Shallon and Sherika research and design products that solve overlooked problems.
